During the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven ZJA shows a selection of models of the parametric design of cable-net supported fabric - formwork for the NEST HiLo initiative.
This initiative is a joined research- and innovation platform of the ETHZ/BLOCK Research Group, SUAT, in collaboration with Supermanoeuvre and the architects ZJA. At the end of 2015 the NEST (Next Evolution in Sustainable building Technologies) will be erected on the site of the Empa, the Building materials test institute in Dübendorf, near Zurich. It will be the first full-scale testing and building facility of its kind exploring the possibilities of an integrated new building technology.
The models displayed in Eindhoven represent the BLOCK Research Group and ZJA’s research on a new approach to design and construct a thin shell concrete roof using a cable-net fabric formwork.
The models are displayed at the ‘Klokgebouw’ in Eindhoven (at Deerns office) from October 18th to October 26th.
