Annemarie was born and raised in Amsterdam and played under the drawing table of her father who was an architect at Herman Hertzberger's firm. Her schooldays passed without much effort and in a playful mood, leaving her without a clear idea for the future at graduation. Traveling through Greece she fell in love with the idyllic port town of Chania on the island of Crete and stayed there, to work and live, for four years. "The following year I enrolled at the School for European Studies and majored in Communication."
After having worked at an art space for contemporary art, a college for security employees, and a professional photographer she found a job at ZJA. "It felt like coming home. From an early age I was familiar with architecture and here they really engage me in the projects. At ZJA I really enjoy the variety in the work I do. Among other things I care for the social media, the website, the press releases and all the photography involved in the projects. Furthermore, I also manage the applications for the many different awards and prizes. I really appreciate the diversity of the architects working here and the chances you get for personal development."
