The renewed Thialf ice arena has been nominated for the popular choice award of the international Architizer A + Awards 2017. Thialf is one of five projects nominated by the jury in the category stadium / arena.
The Architizer A + Award is a prestigious architecture prize that promotes and celebrates the best projects of architects worldwide in various categories. In each category two awards can be won annually: a popular choice award and a jury award. Until March 30th, one can cast a vote for the popular choice award on the Architizer website. In April, the winning projects will be announced.
In the renewed Thialf, designed by ZJA, everything is about the ice and ice skaters. In the arena, the top athletes have access to the best ice and the best 400-meter track. Training conditions such as temperature and humidity are easy to adapt to specific needs. In addition, sustainability and innovation play an important role.
