On Saturday May 20th, the twelfth edition of the national Construction Day will take place. Various construction sites will then open their doors to the public for one day. So will three projects that are designed by ZJA; The underground parking garage Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht, the Albert Cuypgarage in Amsterdam and the Randstad 380 kV Noordring, the new electricity highway, including the new high voltage pylons in the Haarlemmermeer.
Underground parking garage Jaarbeursplein Utrecht
Located on the west side of Utrecht Centraal is the renewed Jaarbeursplein with an underground parking garage for over 700 cars. ZJA, together with OKRA Landscape Architects and Witteveen+Bos, made the integral design of the parking garage and the overlying Jaarbeursplein. The underground parking garage Jaarbeursplein will be completed beginning of 2018.
Underground parking garage Albert Cuyp Amsterdam
Currently, an underground parking garage that can accommodate 600 cars is being built underneath the Boerenwetering canal in Amsterdam. At street level, 300 parking lots will be removed, allowing more space to be created for pedestrians, cyclists and landscaping. A unique project in Amsterdam; It is the first parking garage in the city that is being build underneath an existing canal. The Albert Cuyp parking garage is expected to be completed beginning 2018.
Randstad 380 kV Noordring
In the Haarlemmermeer a new electricity highway, Randstad 380 kV, is being built. Part of this project is the construction of more than 300 new Wintrack high voltage pylons, a new type of high voltage pylon, and the installation of 10 km of underground cable. The pylons, designed by ZJA, are slender and minimalistic. This design, together with the colour composition of the high voltage pylons, provides less disruption to the landscape. The project will be completed end of 2018.
